I have pain that moves to different locations?

I went to the sports therapist and he worked on my shoulder as the muscles were sore. Within 15 minutes after treatment I had unexplained pain in my lower arm and a little in calf. Why does pain move from place to place in muscles? Is it Lactic Acid?

I had TMJ from grinding so I got braces. I have bimax protrustion so my prev ortho ordered 4 premolar extracted. Now I switched to a functional ortho who says she wont close my gap because that would force the mandible backwards and that I needed implants. I dont understand how when it’s just moving teeth, not the whole mandible.

There seems to be two approaches to TMJ treatment: finding the correct jaw and muscle posture using TENS. My ortho plans on using the other technique, moving my jaw down and forward to relieve pressure, without using TENS. This doesn’t take into account the muscles, will they adapt? Will I brux more?

Thank you Dr. Tooth975, your other answers have really helped me and what got me to switch to a functional orthodontist. I am still in the search for a good one. Where are you located?

As some of you have read some of my questions you maybe somewhat aware of my circumstances.I have treatment resistant depression along with chronic H/A-the pain management specialist explains them as migraine-muscular tension, and fibromyalgia of the muscles of the head neck, and shoulders. I have been having fentyl 600mcg medicine that is absorbed inside the gum and inner cheek. I only have one doctor prescribing medication, have an agreement contract, the whole nine yards. Yesterday I had two lower jaw teeth extracted along with a bone graft. My oral surgeon suggested to continue with the fentyl medication 2 days after the surgery. Now my pain management has decided to only allow me to have hydrocodone 15mg. tabs 1 or 2 every 4-6 hrs.My tolerance to medication is high therefore my pain is not being controlled.Would you share with me your experience with chronic pain, the management, and the control that you receive.I feel that I will never get the pain controlled . HELP PLEASE
ADDITIONAL; I cannot begin to thank you all so much for the concern and the information. If more doctors would talk with their patients instead of down to us,think of the possibilities. Im giving this edit to my question just in case there are others that would have to the answers already.??how to I acquire the information or how might I learn these things with the information from India and were did you all learn how to put these things into practice? would you help me a little more? I am so sick and tired of my monthly trip to get my so called answer to the pain. I am 53years old and I feel that Ive lost those years to all quick fixes or under the control of the legal dealers handing out what they want to at the time. I want to get my life back and I thankyou all so much. I want to put the practical into action. It will not happen overnight but I want to try.

Ataxic cerebral palsy and occupational therapy?

I have a daughter will ataxic cp. She hasn’t has occupational therapy for years – since she was 7 or so. She is now is grade 8 at high school. She has an IEP but even when we put goals on their they never get acheived.
She has has many surgeries, braces, therapy to help her mobility – however she hasnt has OT for ages.
Her teachers have noticed her handwriting becoming worse – her posture when writing is worse (leaning to the side) and she grip is terrible – she holds in with a sort of locked clench grip and almost finger writes. She doesn’t have that greater trunk stability or strong tummy muscles. Also at home when she drinks her hands at shaky – even eating food sometimes. She is having difficulty picking up a glass (the lower the glass is i.e. if it isnt a tall cup then she has more trouble with it) she grips the glass near the top of it where you drink out of and she grips it with two hands like a child would. When trying to hold in with 1 hand she has difficulty.
Basically her fine motor skills are deterierating.
Also what sort of assessment would an OT consider. I’m trying to see if she can get an OT assessment as she hasnt had one for years.
What would be involved with an OT assessment – how long would it go for and what would happen for there on?
Sometimes I have to support her by holding her up with one hand (sort of like hugging her from behind) and then help her do something with the hand or I have to feed her etc
She can walk. But now and again used a w/c
Basically if any occupational therapists, physios, special education teachers or anyone – if you provide detailed answers – that would be great
Cause no one at the school is doing anything about it…She goes to a mainstream school.
If you need anymore info about her and what she can/can’t do please ask.
            Thanks
            btw she is right handed.
also if anyone has anymore info on ataxic cp please tell me – all the info seems to be about spastic cp etc as ataxic cp is apparently she rarest form so it seems no one bothers to do research on it…
            theOTgirl,
THANK YOU so much for reply!
It’s ok that you can’t be too detailed about it – maybe you could ask your tutor/lectures?
I am still hassiling the school about it – no luck yet.
I had an appointment with the GP which I brough my daughter along to and he said that it will have to wait as he is too busy!
            So back to square 1.
Any other people with more info – anything at all (techniques etc experiences of other mums with kids who have cp etc) would be so helpful.
theOTgirl – I wish you all the best of luck with your studies and I know you’ll make a fabolous OT in the future when you complete your course!
            Thanks again

              Advice for a jumping beginner?

To begin, I’m going to summarize my riding experience/current situation.
I ride a 15 year old Appaloosa gelding, about 16H. The two of us have been together for about four years now, and I have almost six years of riding experience total. However, it wasn’t until these past few months that I actually started to learn to jump…and I’m having some issues.
I’m typically a flat work rider, and my instructor is INCREDIBLE with dressage training. Unfortunately, we’ve hit some road blocks with jumping that she doesn’t know how to help me with, so I was hoping that maybe someone could give me a couple tips to consider?

My biggest issue is posture when jumping. I struggle to hold my balance upon landing, so I have a bad tendency to rock forward which, obviously, causes my weight to pitch forward, forcing me to brace myself on his neck, and thus throwing him off balance. It just isn’t pretty. Does anyone know some tricks that can help me learn to fix this? Perhaps some exercises that I can try to strengthen muscles that may aid in control?

Secondly, I’m having a HORRIBLE time with my hands. I just cannot get synchronized with my horse’s head, so I either A: Bang him in the mouth when he lands (and he’s a sensitive guy, so then he won’t want to jump after that) or B: let my reins slide through my fingers. Neither of these are good options, for the obvious reasons.

I’m starting to feel discouraged. I’m a patient person. I mean, I’ve been on this horse for four years, and I’ve never even gotten reserve champion in any division I’ve competed in. He’s….a silly boy. >.<" When he’s not trying to eat the other horses, he’s great! STUNNING mover, and God is he beautiful….but it took me ~two years~ to be able to canter him easily. He’s a beautiful jumper, though! He tucks his feet up, and just…he’s easily one of the best jumpers in our barn…so it’s me that’s the problem. :/

I don’t even know if it’s possible for anyone to give advice for these types of problems, but you never know unless you ask! I’m also open to any kind of advice for jumping beginners. :) I love learning!
              Thanks!

                rotator cuff / shoulder injury?

\lthough it has gone away know last week while skiing i had some shoulder pain. I first hurt my shoulder in the summer when i capsized my kayak and had to wrench myself up with it. Secondly late last year in badminton i did an over hand shot and it clicked and ground. I couldnt stretch it behind my back. Recentley im not sure what i did to it but while ski ing it hurt to push with my poles and it was painful to pull myself up onto my bunk. The pain is totally gone at the moment so i do not need or want advice on medicine or treatment.

What i want to know is what was wrong with my shoulder these times?

Was it the ligermants or muscles?

is it a rotator cuff injury?

Are the injuries related and will it reioccure?

Is there a brace or support i could by to help ith sport?

                Thankyou!

p.s. i am 14 years old and quite sporty (i am not deohydrated)

to make more room. (possible bone spurs) I am wondering if anyone else has had this procedure, did it help, healing time etc. MRI booked next few weeks to have a closer look. Any help would be appreciated.
have had xrays done, done the physio therapy, anti-immflammitory drugs too. Surgeon thinks may not be room enuf between bones for muscles causing the "pinching"
