So here’s my story, if you can, please recommend either a specific brace or a type that I should look into

I have pretty bad(7-8/10) lower back pain, and mild(5-6/10) pain in the rest of my back(mostly just spine, although it’s more to the right side in my lower back)….and I saw an urgent care doctor since it was still open when I got off work and no regular doctors seem to have openings anyways.
They prescribed me ultram(which I couldn’t take due to drug interactions), then changed it to vicodin(5/500) and ibuprofen(800mg), that wasn’t enough so they moved me up to Norco(10/325), when I said that wasn’t enough they moved me down to tylenol #3…
they said that’s the highest they can prescribe, and like I said no other doctors have openings for at least a month
went to a physical therapist and did their exercises for a while with no improvement, so I stopped.
then I went to a chiropractor and he took x-rays and said I have mild scoliosis, my head is pushed forward too much and my shoulders are pushed back, I have subluxation throughout my back in various places, the bottom curve of my back is too extreme, while the curve in my neck is non existent.
please help me, I need any ideas of how to make the pain stop
I can’t afford the ER for a prescription, and I’m hoping a brace will not only fix my posture, but relieve me of the pain
okay i’m 14 years old and 4 years ago i had to carry a backpack home that wayed 10 lbs everyday..well anyway it curved my spine about .5 degrees. Well my physical was today and it’s now at 6 degrees, probably due to poor posture (i just didn’t think it’d get that bad) so i’m going into highschool and i really don’t want to wear a brace or go through surgery. Is their any exercises i can do? anything at all??? please please help me! thanks.
To begin, I’m going to summarize my riding experience/current situation.
I ride a 15 year old Appaloosa gelding, about 16H. The two of us have been together for about four years now, and I have almost six years of riding experience total. However, it wasn’t until these past few months that I actually started to learn to jump…and I’m having some issues.
I’m typically a flat work rider, and my instructor is INCREDIBLE with dressage training. Unfortunately, we’ve hit some road blocks with jumping that she doesn’t know how to help me with, so I was hoping that maybe someone could give me a couple tips to consider?
My biggest issue is posture when jumping. I struggle to hold my balance upon landing, so I have a bad tendency to rock forward which, obviously, causes my weight to pitch forward, forcing me to brace myself on his neck, and thus throwing him off balance. It just isn’t pretty. Does anyone know some tricks that can help me learn to fix this? Perhaps some exercises that I can try to strengthen muscles that may aid in control?
Secondly, I’m having a HORRIBLE time with my hands. I just cannot get synchronized with my horse’s head, so I either A: Bang him in the mouth when he lands (and he’s a sensitive guy, so then he won’t want to jump after that) or B: let my reins slide through my fingers. Neither of these are good options, for the obvious reasons.
I’m starting to feel discouraged. I’m a patient person. I mean, I’ve been on this horse for four years, and I’ve never even gotten reserve champion in any division I’ve competed in. He’s….a silly boy. >.<" When he’s not trying to eat the other horses, he’s great! STUNNING mover, and God is he beautiful….but it took me ~two years~ to be able to canter him easily. He’s a beautiful jumper, though! He tucks his feet up, and just…he’s easily one of the best jumpers in our barn…so it’s me that’s the problem. :/
I don’t even know if it’s possible for anyone to give advice for these types of problems, but you never know unless you ask! I’m also open to any kind of advice for jumping beginners. I love learning!
Thanks!
I’m 16 years old and been having really bad back pain for about a few months now. I’m in special ed and have never been diagnosed with anything else besides elhers danlos syndrome or something, week muscle tone and just the basic symptoms of that. I have a learning disability, but anyway, about a year ago I saw an orthopedic about my back, they did exrays and it showed a slight curve but nothing huge, they call it kyphosis? or something. Well Starting a few months ago I got extremely bad pain and just hurts doing anything, walking a lot, bending, sitting in one position a long time, standing a long time. It’s torture..well I saw the orthopedic again, the curve has stayed the same not gotten worse, my growth plates they say are closed pretty much. If I were to grow more the curve could change but I’m not. They don’t wanna suggest surgery yet. They think trying everything else first is best. So Ive just recently started Physical therapy. My prob is my posture, I’ve sat so long curved over that my back is so tight and their having trouble loosing it… That’s why I’m getting this pain. I’ll constantly text my mom from school hurting, or end up in tears from pain. But they didn’t recommend pain med, that wont work, If something was inflamed then maybe that would work. But My mom gave me med, she’s a nurse, but that still didn’t help. The physical therapist is working with me and giving me these types of exercises to work on. 2 to 3 times per day. Hopefully it will help. But this pain is sucky.. They also suggested that I could possibly need a customized chair. What hurts miserably is when I’m in school. Each class 90 minutes, you sit. The chairs are horrible. Instead of focusing on work I’m thinking about how much I’m hurting. I wear this lumbar support brace at the moment, but it’s not helping much. It sorta Velcro’s around, not too great. But I was wondering what they mean by a customized chair.. to use at home and school…like wheel in it? or .. push.. don’t know if it’s portable… not sure what they meant by it. Not a wheelchair.. so I’m wondering what a customized chair is.. anyone know? and if pt doesn’t help withen 6 weeks or such we’ll get an Mri done and make sure there’s nothing more causing this pain. Surgery could be an option in the long run, but they wanna try everything before suggesting that.It would be great to hear some feedback on this. I’m having trouble with pain and it’s really bugging me. Thanks
Alright, about 3 months ago I started to get really bad back pain, went to see an orthopedic and he did a xray. I saw him back awhile ago as well when they noticed the slight curve in my spine. It being called kyphosis. They said that it probably wouldn’t get worse if I wasn’t growing anymore. So he just told me to try physical therapy for 6 weeks and get a lumbar support thing. So we followed through and got the lumbar support. It wasn’t giving any support and my back was still hurting. A little after I saw him, my back became more hunched over. Before, I could stand pretty much straight, but now I’m really far hunched over. It got worse.. my posture. And my pain was horrible walking around, standing, sitting. My backs been locked in this bent over position with pain that I can’t get out of. In physical therapy, the purpose was to try to help loosen my back and put me back into a straighter position with less pain. I got all these exercises to work on, which I had to do 3 times a day. I did do that.. then we met with a bracing guy, and I got a brace to use. The brace was simply to see if it helped with pain control, wasn’t going to straighten my back. With the brace on, my pain control is down a tad bit, but hardly. I’m still getting bad pain. It keeps me up straight though, and I’m not all bent over. But anywho, did Physical therapy, as well as swim therapy. They wont continue the therapy, you get 6 weeks or whatever. I did it for that long, including swim therapy. My back still is in the same position with the same amount of pain. So now we got to take the next step. Were meeting with someone on the 23rd who diagnosed me with Ehlers-Danlos Syndrome a couple years ago. Were wondering if my back being bent like this has anything to do with the syndrome. And if the person has an idea of what we should do next. I’m wondering if surgery would be the way to go. It’s a possibility, and it might actually be a good thing to get done. I mean what else is there to do? we also need to meet back with the Orthopedic guy, he’ll probably order an mri or something next I don’t know? it’s just so frustrating and I hate this.:( Do you think Surgery is the way to go? or what?
Can someone please tell me the treatment plan for a labral tear or any type of tear that is made worse by PT or that is not responding to treatment? I think something bigger is going on but I have not had an MRI yet…
I was diagnosed with "swimmers shoulder" 9 weeks ago. I have gone to PT three times and each time we have to adjust the exercises to make them easier or just drop them altogether. I stopped my home PT completely and my shoulder continues to get even more painful. My most recent session was Wednesday but my mom called the therapist yesterday and told him that I couldn’t do my exercises anymore. They aren’t in on Fridays. The treatment plan was ice, NSAIDS and PT and I continue to get worse. I have gotten significantly worse in the last 5 days. My shoulder now pops out really hard when I lean on it or lifting anything heavier than a water bottle. I now have a 7 out of 10 pain level and my shoulder is burning. IT JUST HURTS! And the grinding is MUCH more severe- same with the clicking. I used to only have it with overhead motion but now I have it with any movement.
ive known that i have scoliosis for…almost 2 years now. as soon as we found out, i started doin specific exercises..and it got better. a couple of months ago i had some x-rays taken and the angle was 21 degrees <as opposed to 30 something>. ive been wearing braces for 1 year and a half, i recently had the second one made. im seeing a physician regulary and im in … rehab, is it? not sure what its called. this lady im doing the exercises with says im gettin better, but every time i look in the mirror it seems worse…i can tell from the curves that are supposed to be equal at the waist line…i dont really know if the new brace is actually helping me in any way. i know the old one pushed so that the spine would be kept in a straight position, but i think this one is built more to keep it as it already is. i believe its gettin worse because my posture is slowly deteriorating as well…ive seen 2 diff doctors and they all say i should be out of the brace, but its worse WITH the brace…
Okay, I need some sort of reminder or something, so that i am always aware of my posture….otherwise i could end up with a back brace
currently i go to a gym for my back but everyother day i need to do some special exercises, how do i remember!!!!?
I’m a sophomore female on my high schools drum line and this is my first year playing on marching snare. After my rehearsals, my lower back and shoulders are killing me. I know the longer i wear it, the easier it becomes. I was wondering if there are any exercises i could do. I’ve heard of a back brace type thing that helps support your back while playing. Any suggestions?
