Shoulder brace any good for rugby?
So I dislocated my shoulder three times. Twice during our FIRST practice. Both times they popped back in on their own. Next week I was in a ruck and a dislocated it again. This time I had to go to the hospital and get it back in by a doctor. After that, I was put out ALL SEASON. I was furious. I would have been a good prop forward (6’1", 200 lbs.)
Anyways, it’s been a few months. I have done some rotator cuff muscle exercises with a 5 lb weight. Do you think that my shoulder is strong enough to go through rugby?
And I was wondering if a shoulder brace protects your shoulder from dislocating at all while playing rugby.
Thanks!

I understand what you are saying and going through cause i am the same way, i am forced to wear shoulder pads to soften the impact on my shoulders. A shoulder is something that you don’t really want to injury seriously, so i recommend going to physio for your shoulder and see what they have to say about it. They might say that you don’t have to wear a shoulder brace. Or they might say you have to. Be careful with your shoulders.
I hope this helps cause i understand what you are going through and it sucks
Yeah, you can play with a shoulder brace. Same rules as every other piece of equipment, the whole brace must be soft, no stiff protection. I’d suggest going to a physical therapist for the brace and suggestions for more exercises. Find a PT that works with athletes, they’ll have a much better idea of what your shoulder can take. Good luck.
