Is it too late to treat Scoliosis?
I am 23 years old and I have had Scoliosis since I was 9 the curve is towards the lower part of my spine I have never had it checked to see the degree of the curve. Everyone told me that I would grow out of it and that if I improved my posture everything would be fine. Today everything is not fine I notice that my shoulders are slightly uneven and some days I have a lot of back pain. I was wondering if there was anything I could do to improve my spine? I am no longer growing so would a back brace work? Is surgery my only option? I hope that I can still take care of this before there is nothing I can do. How expansive is treatment because I currently have no health insurance?

Not really. I had scoliosis since I was ten (Four-teen now) but last Christmas I had surgery to fix it. I would recommend having surgery and let them insert the "bar" if the need to. I had the "bar" for four months and got it out in April. Trust me, the two surgeries are worth it.
Go and see a doctor. A back brace would still work, but there are also exercises out there to improve your posture. Unfortunately a good back brace is going to set you back quite a bit, might be in the thousands, but only your doctor or specialist can give you an exact figure.Good Luck.
OK- first of all, it will really depend on the amount of curve you have. Many times people are told they have scoliosis and it is less than 10 degrees. This is just a spinal curvature within normal limits.
However, many times people will experience problems like this simply because they are out of alignment. So, don’t get scared that you will be like this for the rest of your life. You really need to see someone who can look at your back and see what is going on.
I would recommend a chiropractor first. They should be able to look at your spine, get an x-ray and determine if you even have scoliosis or not. In addition, for the regular misalignments that you have, they should be able to correct them and you should have some relief from the pain.
I really wish you the best
I would like to suggest to try to get as much information as you could before making up your mind, here http://www.healthinsurance-onlinetips.info/health-insurance-for-free.htm is a very resourceful
one.
The sooner, the better. I recommend that you see a bone specialist – an osteopath. They are doctors who specialize in bone and muscle problems.
Regarding the health insurance issue, you could call universities that have medical teaching hospitals in your region. They may be able to help you for a lot less.
Another idea is to contact you local helath department, but they ususally do not offer specialized treatments. However, they could give you some direction as to where to turn for medical assistance in this case.
Good Luck to you.
