Lol….this exercise is just that…an exercise because it wouldn’t be practical to walk around with the double chin as you say. But it is good practise to slightly tuck it in and stand tall when walking. Eventually when the head is back in alignment you will no longer need to ‘force’ it back so to speak. The more of these you do and the more frequently, the faster you will correct your posture. Thanks!

@smileypom I’m 44 so I know it takes time. Be patient it has taken 40 years to get like this. The fact that you are moving better is a great start!! If you got serious about correcting your posture you would notice change after 4 months of consistent work. I’ve been correcting my posture for years and won’t stop working on it because gravity is a bugger and will always try to disrupt your good alignment. Well done!

@smileypom Made me laugh. You won’t get a double chin don’t worry. Yes when you are at PC then do some of the chin tucks; not in the same way you do when you do them as proper exercise. So as I type to you now I have stopped when working to do three or four tucks. I’m always doing them and the consistency works!

@posturevideos Thanks for your replies, Paula! I’m happy I asked, now I know it’ll be a little while and not to give up. I’m feeling a little sore — I may be doing these more than I’m supposed to, since I am really aware of my neck these days — but I think that may be good as it does remind me to keep doing them.

I just saw that you put up some new videos and watched the 3 parter on fnp, lots of good info! Thanks again! I’ll come back and let you know how I progress.

Awesome! Thank you so much. I am an 18 year old athlete and I am constantly active. I have been in very heavy weight lifting for over 5 years and I almost always focused on my chest muscles, which pulled my head and shoulders forward. At the start of this year I have developed an abnormally sized hump on lower neck/upper back, my chiropractor just said it was some hump laughed and told me I need to work on posture, but I really didn’t no how. I just wanted to thank you for the videos.

    10. posturevideos says:

Thanks for your comments. You should always do exercises under the care of a health professional. Nauseous sounds unusual to me, perhaps that postural problem of yours has been affecting your nervous system for a long time. Any health concerns should be directed to your GP or chiropractor. Remember a little and often. Stick with it!!

    13. HooligannSTR says:

Hmm.. there is a ton of tension and pain in my front neck muscles. I wonder it’s because I have a forward head posture and it’s causing pain and tension on those muscles, I can’t think of anything else that would be the cause

    14. posturevideos says:

Sounds a likely cause. Watch all my videos on forward head posture by looking at that category on my posture videos dotcom website. Thanks for the comment.

    15. kiddkaos1 says:

@HooligannSTR That’s a very common sign of this bad posture, I used to have sort of at the front/sides of my neck but after following some of these techniques for a few weeks I can feel it getting noticeably better. Also watching how I sit at the computer is helping.

    16. gaha420 says:

@zombiedeutsch I’m in the same situation as you. Skinny, long neck, and bad posture cause of video games. Glad I found this video.

    17. whitenoices says:

Great video, Thanks a million ma’m.
I have a small neck hump, and I am doing this excercise for almost 1 months now, how long will it take to correct this hump.

    18. posturevideos says:

@whitenoices ah the million dollar question this depends on the cause, how long it has been there, how severe it is, your lifestyle (diet, weight, emotional health). There are far too many factors to be able to answer you having never met or examined you. Sorry, I’d love to be able to give an answer (I’d have a line up around the block of people coming to see me if I could!).

    19. theeaglehaslandedify says:

Paula, does the excercise over time actually improve the ‘C-curve’ towards a more optimal curvature ?

    20. posturevideos says:

@theeaglehaslandedify A great question, thanks! It certainly can change the curve over time but it depends very much on how advanced the changes are to the curve and if there is any osteoarthritis that has developed in the discs and joints due to the incorrect posture. This makes a huge difference in how correctable the curve is.

    21. syber95 says:

Can u please help me i got a question? Iam 16, can you tell me +/- how many times i need do this every session and for how long days ?

    22. posturevideos says:

@syber95 Start with 10 times in a row three times a day. If it is really marked forward head posture you should be doing exercises with the help of your health practitioner who can advise you how many and how often depending on your examination. Thanks for the question.

    23. theeaglehaslandedify says:

Paula, Can I email you a picture of my C-spine x-ray? It’s fairly straight but expected. The curve isn’t going the wrong way yet or anything, just not much of a curve anymore.

    24. posturevideos says:

@theeaglehaslandedify The best way for me to offer an assessment (I do charge as I get asked to look at x-rays and pictures quite often) is to direct you to my website posturevideos dotcom and under the heading ‘Best Posture Products’ you will see my ‘Posture Analysis’. If you decide to purchase this service just remind me of our chat here and I’ll include a full mathematical analysis of your x-rays (including measurements etc). Thank you for your question, it is hard not to say yes to everyone
